A BEGINNER’S GUIDE TO UK DROPSHIPPING

How to sell without buying stock upfront.

Start with products you want to sell, without filling your home with stock. Here is how the process works with Click Stock Direct.

What is dropshipping?

Dropshipping is a fulfilment arrangement where you sell a product and a supplier sends it directly to your customer. With Click Stock Direct, we hold the stock, pack the order and arrange dispatch. You manage your listings, sales and customer communications.

No upfront stock purchase does not mean selling has no costs. You still pay for each fulfilment order and need to allow for postage and any fees charged by your selling platform.

1. Choose the right products for your buyers

Start with a small selection you understand rather than listing everything. Think about the styles, sizes and types of items your customers want. Browse our catalogue by category, then apply for an account. Prices and stock quantities are available after you log in with an approved account.

Check that your chosen marketplace allows your selling arrangement before listing. Your own website and each marketplace may have different requirements.

2. Work out your margin before listing

Compare what your buyer will pay with the wholesale cost, postage you cover, platform or payment fees and any discounts. Leave room for other business costs too. A suggested resale price is a guide, not a promise of a sale or profit.

Selling income minus product cost, postage and selling fees gives you an initial margin estimate. This is not necessarily your final business profit.

3. Prepare an accurate listing

Check the product name, colour, size and description. Approved customers can access listing information and download available photos. Use images that accurately represent the item and meet your selling platform’s requirements.

Where alternative photo sets are available, you can download the set assigned to your account. Our existing selling guide explains the photo choices and preparation steps.

4. Keep an eye on shared stock

Listing an item or downloading its photos does not reserve it. Other resellers may sell the same stock, so check availability, use stock alerts where offered and update your listings promptly. Stock is confirmed when payment completes.

5. Send us your paid fulfilment order

When you make a sale, choose the correct item, size and quantity. Enter your buyer’s delivery details and either attach an appropriate prepaid postage label or choose an available postage service from us. Review the total and complete payment.

We then handle packing and dispatch. Follow the order in your account and keep your buyer informed. Check the current dispatch and postage information before promising a delivery date.

Who handles the customer?

You remain your buyer’s point of contact. Manage their questions and your listing updates, and contact us if there is an issue with fulfilment. Read our terms and returns process before ordering so you know how to report a problem.
